Overview

What is a Therapeutic Mammoplasty?

The Procedure

What does the procedure involve?

Combines breast-conserving cancer surgery with a breast reduction or lift technique. The tumour is removed with an appropriate margin while the remaining breast tissue is reshaped to maintain a balanced breast shape; the opposite breast is then adjusted for symmetry to match.

Candidacy

Who is a suitable candidate?

Patients undergoing breast-conserving cancer surgery who have enough breast tissue to allow the tumour to be removed safely while the remaining breast is reshaped. It is particularly useful where a standard lumpectomy may result in significant contour deformity or asymmetry.
